MOUND CITY, Mo. - A 24-year-old Iowa resident is in the hospital after a wreck in Holt County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Sara Skalberg of Shenandoah was driving a 2016 Chevy Malibu on I-29, 13 miles south of Mound City, this past Tuesday, Feb. 15.

The Patrol says at 8:40 p.m. the Chevy struck the towed unit of a semi truck that was trying to merge to the driving lane shoulder.

Skalberg, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with serious injuries.
