Hy-Vee sends crew to help tornado victims

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - One local grocery chain is helping out those impacted by last weekend's devastating tornadoes and storms.

Hy-Vee sent 37 of it's employees in 19 vehicles to help victims of the tornadoes that ripped through Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee. The team is taking 327,000 bottles of water and more than 220,000 snack bars and breakfast items.

The team left Hy-Vee's headquarters in West Des Moines Monday morning, stopping at Hy-Vee's Distribution Center in Chariton, before heading to Mayfield, Kentucky. The team will visit other impacted areas in the coming days.
