JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Preliminary numbers are in from the youth portion of Missouri's deer hunting season.
The Missouri Department of Conservation says hunters, ages six through 15, hunted over 15,600 deer from October 30 to the 31. The numbers are slightly down from last year when young hunters hunted over 15,800 deer.
The MDC says weather had a big impact on this year's totals. As for other hunting seasons, deer archery season continues through this Friday, with the firearm deer season starting this Saturday and running through November 23.
