Iowa DNR reminds residents about bowhunting safety

DES MOINES, Iowa - Safety is a topic on the minds of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources as bowhunting season continues.

In Iowa last year, there were eight tree-stand related incidents, many of which resulted in serious injuries. All of them preventable.

The Iowa DNR wants to remind hunters of four important safety tips, always remove and inspect your equipment, buckle up your harness, connect to the tree before your feet leave the ground, and let people know your hunting plans.

You can find a hunter safety course on events.gooutdoorsiowa.com.
