Missouri sends more ambulances to transport COVID-19 cases

LIBERTY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has deployed more mutual aid
ambulances and health care workers to transport COVID-19 patients to other regions from hospitals that are already too full.

Parson says 30 ambulances and more than 60 medical personnel are scheduled to begin arriving in five regions of the state Friday.

The state previously sent ambulances from Arkansas to help when Springfield-area hospitals began straining under new cases sparked by the delta variant in mid-July.

Parson says the new directive will place ambulances in five regions of the state, which will operate anywhere they are needed through Sept. 5.
