MSHP: Iowa woman killed in crash

ALBANY, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified an Iowa woman that died in a two-vehicle wreck over the weekend.

The Patrol says 59-year-old Katherine Showers of Oskaloosa wrecked a 2009 Pontiac Vibe on 136 Highway, two miles east of Albany 6:25 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities say Showers drove the Pontiac across the center line and struck a semi head-on before the Pontiac came to a rest in a ditch.

The semi, driven by 49-year-old Marvin Andersen of Gillman City, ran off the road and returned back to the road, only to run off the other side of the road, coming to a rest in the middle of the highway.

Showers, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Andersen, who was wearing a seatbelt, had no injuries.
