Two summer camps focused on the arts for students in Southwest Iowa

Children and students in southwest Iowa have to opportunity to take part in two different summer camps focused on the arts. The Wilson Performing Arts Center in Red Oak will be providing two theatrical experiences for students aged 8-14 as well as children in kindergarten-6th grade.

The first camp titled "Summer Play Intensive" has students ages 8-14 audition, rehearse, and perform a short play. From July 22nd to August 2nd students will learn the ins and outs of theater, from auditions to the final bow.

The second camp for the younger students engages them in all aspects of visual and performing arts. From dance, music, acting, painting and much more.

Wilson Performing Arts Center Executive Director, Kara Sherman says these camps are a great, productive way for kids to stay active this summer.

"It's an opportunity to get out of the hot sun and of course there's always time to go hit the pool, but sometimes it's good to get inside and do something a little different and think outside the box - something that you'll be able to use throughout the school year as well.    There's always numerous opportunities at school to perform in theater and in musicals, speech contests, and all sorts of opportunities that might come up."

More information on the camps, pricing and financial aid are available at the Wilson Performing Arts Center at 712-623-3135.
