Missouri gas prices have fallen in the last week

Missouri gas prices fell 2.4 cents per gallon in the past week according to GasBuddy's survey of 3,940 stations.

Gas prices in Missouri are 14.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago, yet stand 7.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. GasBuddy's head of petroleum analysis Patrick DeHaan says although gas prices in Missouri are up about three cents compared to a week ago, they have started to dip lower again. Oil prices have dipped slightly lower as well, down four dollars from last week. DeHaan says gas prices are more likely to drop at the end of the summer.

"I think prices will hang out at the low to mid $2 per gallon at worst in most areas.  In fact, it's still possible that one or two stations - maybe even a handful of stations - in Missouri drop under $2 a gallon by the end of the summer.  Certainly, I think that's in the cards for fall, so don't look for prices to go much higher.  In fact, there's probably more downside, subject to what happens in the Middle East and with hurricane season.  Those are two factors that are really unpredictable that could lead to temporary increases in prices."

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.76 per gallon.
