"High visibility, strict enforcement" – MSHP ready for 4th of July

The Fourth of July holiday weekend is one of the busiest of the year on the nation's highways and interstates.

Because of this, the Missouri State Highway Patrol will participate in Operation CARE, or Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort.

Sergeant Jake Angle said that means every available trooper in Troop H of northwest Missouri will be working this weekend.

"That will include not only troopers out there on the road, but also our marine operations officers out on the water. Both of those are pretty big elements when we start talking about the Fourth of July, but it's all hands on deck as usual. High visibility, strict enforcement. We're going to be conducting several hazardous moving operations, as well as DWI saturations, and obviously the goal is to reduce traffic crashes and just make sure that everybody is being safe while they travel out there."

Angle added that two DWI saturations will be conducted in Atchison, Holt, Grundy and Livingston Counties. The scheduled operations will be Wednesday, July 3 and Friday, July 5.
