A past Democratic candidate for the Missouri Sixth District U.S. Congressional seat has decided to run again in 2020.

Henry Martin will officially announce his candidacy on August 3rd in Putnam County. Martin is an Army veteran and career educator and says there are two reasons he's decided to run a second time for Missouri's 6th congressional seat.

"Reason one is because I don't believe that the people of the 6th District are being completely represented.  I think at this point a lot of our politicians are basically bought and sold.  The people deserve a representative who is going to show up, keep them informed, and be accountable for the votes he/she takes."

Martin says he gained a lot of knowledge from his first attempt to unseat current Sixth District Congressman Sam Graves.

"I learned a lot about raising money.  I learned a lot about getting out to meet people.  I learned a lot about we have to reach across the aisle.  The 6th District is populated with a lot of moderates - people that are in the middle of the road, which you have to give them a reason to vote for you."

Martin will launch his campaign at an event on August 3rd on the square in Unionville at 10 a.m.
