FEMA to open recovery center in Buchanan County

A Federal Emergency Management Agency recovery center will open tomorrow in Buchanan County to provide one on one assistance to Missourians affected by recent flooding, severe storms and tornadoes.

Recovery Specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will provide information on available services, explain assistance programs and help survivors complete or check the status of their applications.
Media Relations Specialist Spokesperson for FEMA, Angela Byrd. says that the primary goal of the recovery center is to provide relief to as many disaster survivors as possible.

"Especially those that don't have insurance and need help should come to the Disaster Recovery Center to register for disaster assistance.  It's a grant that they will receive.  Even if survivors have put in a claim to their insurance companies and they still need help, should register for disaster assistance."

Missourians from any county may visit the center to seek aid.

The Buchanan County Disaster Recovery Center is located at Keys Fellowship Church, 6001 South 9th Street in St. Joseph. It wil be open from Saturday through Tuesday, July 30th from 8 AM to 7 PM and will be closed on Sunday, the 29th.
