Farmers' Electric Coop in Chillicothe to host dinner and action for AYBF

Farmers' Electric Cooperative in Chillicothe will host their 27th annual Dinner-Auction and Golf Tournament in support of their charity, the Area Youth Benefit Fund. Communications Manager at Farmers' Electric Chasity Anderson says they took action and created the AYBF as a way to improve the community around them.

"Back in 1993, the Area Youth Benefit Fund was created in response to a survey of our membership.  At the time, we were trying to figure out how to help improve the quality of life for those in our nine county area and had asked the question 'What do you need?  What can we do?' .  And one of the things that kept coming up on top of that list was medical insurance.  There was an issue, as there still is, with trying to make sure that you are insured, but also being able to make those monthly premium payments."

As a result the Area Youth Benefit Fund was established to help pay medical bills for those 18 and under in Farmers' Electric nine-county area, which includes Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Linn, Livingston and Ray county. Anyone living in those nine counties is eligible to request funds from the AYBF for medical bills of children. You do not have to be a member of Farmers' Electric Cooperative.

The Dinner auction and golf tournament are the primary sources of funds for the AYBF. The dinner auction is 5 to 9 p.m., August 17th at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge.
The golf tournament tee times are 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., August 19th at the Green Hills Golf Course.

Since 1993, the Area Youth Benefit Fund has donated over 808,000 dollars to 788 area families. For more information or to donate call the Famers' Electric Area Youth Benefit Fund at 660-646-4281. To apply for funds visit www.FEC-CO.com and click on the community tab.
