19-year-old seriously injured after falling asleep at the wheel

A 19-year-old man is in serious condition after a one vehicle crash outside of Savannah.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, 19-year-old Austin Moran was driving northbound on Business 71, two miles south of Savannah, when he fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole, became airborne, and struck a tree. Moran's vehicle came to a rest facing north on County Road 3394. Moran was transported by Andrew County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with serious injuries.

The crash was investigated by the Missouri Highway Patrol, Andrew County Sheriff's Department and Savannah Fire.
