Trial set for Maryville man who drove into the Palms killing a woman

The trial of a Maryville man charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter with the January 2018 death of a 19-year-old Liberty Missouri woman at the Palms bar in Maryville is set to begin next week.
The trial of 22-year-old Alex Catterson will begin Monday with the jury selection process. Nodaway County Prosecuting attorney Robert Rice says Catterson will be charged with a DWI resulting in the death of another individual.

"It's a class B felony which carries a range of punishment of up to 15 years in prison if the defendant is found guilty.  The trial is set to last one week.  There are approximately about 50 witnesses that have been endorsed and will testify in this particular case.  It will include the individuals that were there at the bar at the time of the crash, to the first responders, to the medical professionals, to the police officers who investigated it."

Catterson's charges stem from January 7th, 2018 when the vehicle he was driving crashed into the Palms bar in Maryville, killing 19-year-old Morgan McCoy of Liberty.
