Gleason says SNAP has a huge impact in Nodaway County.

"It's almost $1.5 million in benefits issued in the last fiscal year which means there's a $2.5 million economic impact. And that amounts to about 0.4-percent of the total GDP.  In Nodaway County, 11.5-percent of households receive SNAP benefits.  So it's something that really helps those families weather storms, but also has that ripple effect on the county economy as well."

Gleason adds, in Buchanan County, 15.2 percent of households receive SNAP benefits.   In Andrew County 6.8-percent and in Dekalb County 7.3-percent of households receive these benefits.
