MoDOT gains experience from different types of winter weather

The Missouri Department of Transportation has been busy this winter with multiple snow storms across the state of Missouri. Maintenance and traffic engineer for the northwest district at MoDOT, Tanya Lohman, says several new employees on the crew have gotten to experience all types of winter weather just in the past couple of months.

"...the one inch per hour.  We've had the lighter snowflake.  We've had the great big huge snowflakes. We've had graupel, you know, the dipping dots.  The whole conversation out of Kansas City this past week was the different types of winter mix that came in.  Freezing fog, freezing drizzle, sleet.  So it's been....On one hand, it's been good because several of our crew members were new and hadn't been through many snows the last two-three years as they began to work for us.  Now they've experienced all those.  It's just not fun to have to do them all in one winter."
