Maryville School Board discusses calendars, makes policy changes, adds staff and sets pre-school fees

The Maryville Board of Education met last week. Maryville Superintendent Becky Albrecht says discussion of the school calendar was brought up due to inclement weather this year.

"In old business we discussed school calendars, both this year's calendar and make-up days.  Today we missed 9 days of schools that we have to make-up and we discussed a plan for that.  And then we also went into next year's calendar.  We had a final reading of it, made a motion.  It was voted on and approved by the board to set the calendar for next year."

Albrecht says other items on the agenda included policy revisions, staffing, and 2019/20 preschool fees.

"We had two policy revisions. They involved acceleration of students and also background checks that we approved.  We added two teaching positions - a full-time para that will act as a substitute, and also a position for a high school math instructor. We also set our preschool fees.  We set the fees in the Early Childhood Center at $375 a month and that will be 9 months of billing."
