City to use funds to repair South Main St. in spring

The Maryville City Council discussed the issue of deteriorating streets at its meeting last night.  Maryville City Manager Greg McDanel says the discussion focused on how to best utilize funds to repair parts of main street.

"The city of Maryville has a total of $84,000 in STP/MoDOT/Small Urban Funds that it can use on the functional classification system in Maryville.  We had planned on using this on improving Depot Street.  However, due to the winter conditions, the council decided last night to move that to South Main Street between Lieber and Halsey where we've had some significant deterioration with the weather conditions."

McDanel adds the repairs will begin in the spring in order to utilize the funds by the deadline of June 30th.  He also says the city needs warmer weather in order to fix many of the potholes.
