Buchanan County ag update will be Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

The Buchanan County Agriculture Update will be held tomorrow at the Buchanan County Extension office in St. Joseph at 4125 Mitchell Avenue. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. starting with Private Pesticide Applicator training.

Field Specialist with University Extenstions, Wayne Flanary, says it should be an informational meeting for all farmers in the region.

"Anyone that is farming is welcome to attend the meeting. There are two components of it.  The first is the private applicator training which is designed for those people that need a private applicator licence. We'll conduct that meeting from 8:30-10:00.  Then we'll move into what would be an ag update where the different experts will provide a technical update in different subject areas."

Topics will include strategies to reduce input costs without reducing yield, 2019 winter feeding considerations, invasive pest update and managing fertilizer and chemical input costs. The meeting will end by noon.
