3rd Chamber Concert to take place Sunday

The St. Joseph Symphony will present its third chamber concert of the season this weekend.

The chamber concert takes place Sunday at the Huffman United Methodist Church in St. Joseph. It will feature a performance by the symphony's brass quintet. One of the trumpet players from that quintet and professor of music at Northwest Missouri State, Dr. William Richardson, says the concert will feature a wide variety of pieces.

"There's not really a theme for the concert.  There are just some kind of standard works of brass quintet.  We are doing a brass arrangement of the Little Fuge in G by Johann Sebastian Bach, which is kind of a staple of the Canadian brass literature.  We're also doing the Symphony #3 by Victor Ewald, which is another kind of a big standard work.  Then we are going to close out with some Beatles tunes - some arrangements that the Canadian Brass  did of tunes by the Beatles.

The Quintet is made up of Richardson and Bob Harvey on trumpet; Sara Giovanelli, horn; Chris White, trombone; and Paul Weissenborn, tuba. The performance will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Huffman United Methodist Church in St. Joseph. For tickets or more information call 816-233-7701 or visit saintjosephsymphony.org .
