Traffic accident leads to serious injuries

A 43-year old Independence, Missouri man sustained serious injuries after an accident on US-71 Thursday. Michael Letze was southbound on US-713 miles west of Bolckow at 1:09 p.m. when he attempted to pass another vehicle. Letze hit the vehicle in the Driver's side door, then lost control and travelled off the east side of the road, overturning in the center median. Letze was transported to Mosaic Life Care by Andrew County Ambulance; 61-year-old Jill Edwards of Brooklyn, New York, drove her vehicle from the scene to SSM St. Francis for minor injuries. The accident was assisted by the Andrew County Sheriff's Department, Andrew County Fire, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Bolckow Fire.
