State Theater celebrates 80 years with "Memories & Music"

The State Theater in Mound City will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of its first performance this weekend.
The celebration will be Sunday and will feature a special performance. President of the State Theater Arts Council Mari Ferguson says the performance will be a great way to celebrate 80 years.

"It's not going to be just a talent show.  It is actually going to be called "Memories & Music", so it will be some reflections of the past 80 years of the theater's history as well as bringing current times in."

Ferguson adds that over the last 80 years the theater has served as a great place for local residents to gather.

"We just feel like this gives the public and the community in the area a time to get together and appreciate what we have right in our backyard."

The 80th Anniversary Celebration at the State Theater in Mound City will begin Sunday with a luncheon from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.  "Memories and Music" will be presented following the luncheon.  Tickets are available at all Mound City banks or at Wells Bank in Oregon.
