St. Gregory's breaks record for food drive

Students at St. Gregory's Elementary school in Maryville recently completed their annual Stocktober food drive. The event is organized by the eighth grade class each year. Eighth grade history instructor Jeremy Cobb says this year's drive brought in a record amount of food and monetary donations.

"We really got excited about it.  We put out some email messages to try to motivate the different classes.  This year we raised 2131 pounds of food and $549.  So we're just a little under 2700 all together.  So we're really excited about that.  And last Thursday, the 8th grade class loaded it up into 2 pick-ups and 1 van, and we took it out to the Ministry Center.  And gave it to the Ministry Center here in Maryville."

Cobb says the food and monetary donations will be used to help families and individuals in need in Nodaway County.
