Rain expected to continue in the area

Northern Missouri and southern Iowa saw a significant amount of rainfall over the weekend.  Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Jonathan Welsh says varying amounts of rain was reported through the region.

"...Maryville area in particular saw right around 2 to maybe 3 inches with a heavier total slightly further east, further south acros the Maryville area.  But the main corridor was mainly across eastern Kansas, western Missouri extending up to north central Missouri.  We had quite a wide range of totals.  We've seen reports of 5 to 7 inches."

Welsh says the rain isn't over yet.

"The system as a whole is going to stay in place through today and into tomorrow.  And it's all ahead of a cold front that's still well to the northwest.  We've got this stalled boundary and we've got moisture pulling up ahead of the boundary.  And until that boundary actually pushes through, we're going to see continued rain chances.  We'll eventually see improvement Wednesday morning to afternoon."

According to Welsh more rain is expected this weekend.
