Matt Baker & Trio to perform this weekend in Brownville

The Brownville, Nebraska Concert Series features Matt Baker and the Trio this weekend with three performances.  The Austrialian-born Baker currently lives in New York City and says his concerts this weekend highlight music from New York.

"Gershwin and Bernstein are two of my favorite composers.  I just love their music.  But the other thing is that New York have been a really big life journey for me.  A lot of the songs that really speak about New York, actually I can relate to.  I think like "Autumn in NY" and what they say there in the lyrics and the sounds in the wee hours of the morning.  Going back to the movie The Apartment the story line of that really kind of paralleled my life in some way being a single guy, moving to NY and having his own apartment."

This will be the third time Baker has performed in Brownville and he says Brownville is a special place for him.

"It's a beautiful little town and it's so amazing that the venue we play in, for a small town, has 2 concert Steinway pianos in there, which are beautiful.  It's a town to visit even if it wasn't for the music.  It's a historical town based in the 1800s.  It's beautiful and all restored, very quaint with art galleries and things  like that.  I love travelling and now I've been to Nebraska 3 times, and Brownville is one of my favorite places to go and play."

Matt Baker and the Trio performs in "Autumn in New York" Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at two o'clock in the Brownville Concert Hall.  More information is available at brownvilleconcertseries.com .
