Maryviller to be inducted into the MO Music Hall of Fame

The Missouri Music Hall of Fame has announced its annual inductees and among them is a former Maryville resident.
Sarah Caldwell, along with two others, will be inducted into the Missouri Music Hall of Fame Saturday, November 24th at the St. Joseph Museum. Caldwell, born in Maryville in 1924, was an opera conductor, impresario, and stage director who founded the Opera Company of Boston. Caldwell was also the first woman to conduct the New York Metropolitan Opera and appeared with the New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony. She died in 2006. Caldwell is joining music historian Esther Kreek and founding member of The Byrds Gene Clark in being inducted into the Missouri Music Hall of Fame Saturday, November 24th at 5:30 pm at the St. Joseph Museum at 3406 Frederick Avenue in St. Joseph. The award ceremony is free and open to the public.
