Increased patrols to protect trick-or-treaters

Halloween is tomorrow and drivers will see an increase in law enforcement on roads to protect trick or treaters and other pedestrians.
The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is reminding motorists attending halloween festivities to take precautions to avoid driving impaired. Communications Specialist with the Missouri Department of Transportation Kelly Jackson says it is important to consider safety first if your Halloween plans involve alcohol.

"If you plan to drink, please plan a designated  sober driver for the evening.  If you're impaired take a taxi, call a sober friend or family member or use public transportation to get home.  Also if you know somebody who is about to drive while impaired take the keys and help them make safe travel arrangements to get home.  Please remember that a seat belt is your best defense in any traffic crash.  Buckle up and put your phone down."
