Former KXCV Engineer Dies

A former longtime broadcast engineer at KXCV Radio died Friday. 96-year-old Warren Stucki passed away at the Carriage Square Health Care Center in St. Joseph. Stucki was instrumental in getting KXCV Radio back on the air the next day following the July 24th, 1979 Northwest Missouri State University Administation Building fire that gutted the KXCV studios located in the West Wing of the Administration Building. Through Stucki's work, KXCV signed- on the next morning in a small trailer located underneath the station's tower on the north side of the university campus.
According to Stucki's obitiuary, he served as a Sergeant in the U-S Army during World War Two as a radio operator and assistant tank driver in the European Theater. Prior to his time at KXCV, Stucki worked with American Airlines and KFEQ Radio in St. Joseph.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday from six to eight o'clock at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph.
