Farm equipment operators encouraged to watch out for power lines

With harvest season around the corner, the Nebraska Public Power District is reminding farmers  to "Look Up" and "Look Out" for power lines. Media Relations Specialist Grant Otten says it's important to be aware of the dangers that can occur when using farming equipment gets near power lines.

"As harvest season comes around, it is underway now and will be going on for the next couple months.  Farm equipment will be going out to the field and we're just encouraging farmers or farm operators to be careful of power lines.  The equipment could get very tall, and they are not careful they could potentially hit a power line or hit some type of power equipment.  If that does happen, then the vehicle could be charges, could become electrically charged.  If that is the case, it becomes a very dangerous situation.

The Nebraska Public Power District encourages operators that when using farm equipment to always be aware of the power line locations and be at least 20 feet away from them.
