Democratic candidate for MO 1st District State Rep. Paul Taylor talks about 2 main issues

There's a race for the Missouri First District State Representative position in northwest Missouri. Incumbent Republican Allen Andrews of Grant City is being challenged by Nodaway County resident Paul Taylor. Taylor filed as a Democrat but says he considers himself a moderate Republican.

"I'm dead on in the middle.  So since Alan was a Republicn, I don't like to see races decided at the primary.  And since I'm in the middle, ok, I'll be a Democrat."

Taylor says there are two main issues that he feels aren't being addressed properly in Jefferson City.

"Education.  Why are rural kids treated as 2nd class citizens compared to suburbs?  And that's been going on for decades! Higher education.  We've gotta bring the costs down.  We've gotta get together with universities, what can we do, how can we accomplish this?  Trade schools are just as expensive as universities are now frankly.  And health care.  Same thing - get together with providers because if we don't bring it down, Medicare is gonna go broke.  If politicians steal it, it's gonna go broke anyhow.  The only reasonable answer is, folks, we gotta work together and bring the costs down."
