2018 Election Candidates Forum to be held on October 23rd

Maryville Citizens for Community Action and the Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce have announced a 2018 General Election Candidates Forum. Professor of Political Science at Northwest Missouri State University David McLaughlin says the candidates forum is a great way for candidates to be heard. He says voters will also have the chance to learn more about the issues on the ballot.

"Prior to each election period in Maryville, we will give each candidate about 5 minutes to speak and we will go by the race in which they are involved.  So if they are running for circuit clerk, then all the circuit clerk candidates will go at one time.  We will have... the city manage will explain the ballot major on city tax and I will attempt to explain the meanings behind and the verbiage behind the referendums, the proposals and amendments."

The Forum will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 23rd, in the Courtroom of the Nodaway County Courthouse.
