Sept. 17, 2018Maryville, MO | By: John Coffey
A cooperative investigation of the Nodaway County Sheriff's Department and Maryville Public Safety resulted in the arrest of a Maryville resident on drug and weapons charges. Nodaway County Sheriff Randy Strong says the arrest of Randall Shawn Justus came following an incident Thursday afternoon.
"We got a call of an assault in progress, an individual had a weapon here in Maryville. Maryville officers were responding to that. Captain Wedlock and I back up detective Glidden who had pulled over a suspect over down on East 1st - probably close to Depot Street - down in that area. He was armed with a ball bat and had attempted to assault a couple of individuals here in town."
Strong says a follow up investigation at Justus' residence resulted in the discovery of drugs and weapons.
"It looked like there was a marijuana grow going on at that location. And that there were probably firearms inside the house that developed probable cause on that for a warrant that was granted. When they went inside, they indeed found that marijuana was being grown and cultivated. They got back quite a bit. We probably have several pounds, maybe more, and a number of firearms."
Justus was charged Friday afternoon with Class C Felony Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and a Class D Felony Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and a Class E Felony Possession of a Weapon and a Felony Controlled Substance. Bond for Justus was set at 25 thousand dollars.
