SSM opens doors to new chilcare facility

A $3 million preschool and childcare facility has opened its doors in Maryville.

The SSM Health Preschool and Child Care Center located next to St. Francis Hospital opened on August 16th with the start of the 2018-19 school year. The project was funded through a $1 million Community Development Start Smart Block Grant, Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credits and monetary gifts from individuals and businesses in the community.

Manager of the facility, Dr. Pradnya Patet says the new preschool and childcare center provides needed space to offer important services for the children.

"Now you have a space like this, and you can have children engaged in so many different learning centers," Dr. Patet said. "It gives the teachers opportunity, too, to spend that one-on-one time and work with children rather than have everyone crammed in one space and then you have 20 children to focus on and take care of in that space. I think that reassurance that we can give families is huge."

The new early learning center will follow Missouri Early Learning Standards through the Project Construct Curriculum. An open house for families wishing to tour the facility will be held on September 9th from 1-3pm.
