Labor Day Weekend DWI law enforcement & public assistance

The Missouri Highway Patrol's Troop H will conduct a Driving While Intoxicated saturation over Labor Day weekend in Andrew, Buchanan, Daviess, Dekalb, Grundy, Harrison, Livingston, and Nodaway counties. Sergeant Jake Angle says the goal of monitoring this weekend is to make sure everybody driving has a safe holiday weekend.

"Our ultimate goal is to reduce traffic crashes, reduce fatalities.  Those are the things we don't want to have happen.  So we're going to have some impaired driving enforcements and DWI saturations going on.  And we're going to have hazardous moving operations going on.  All of these are going to happen through Labor Day and all through the weekend."

Angle adds the extra enforcement will also serve as assistance for any motorist having car trouble.

"We got several operations planned for the weekend.  And you know, nothing's changed.  It's high visibility.  Not only for law enforcement purposes and to keep people safe, but also inevitably, with this many vehicles on the roadway, we'll have breakdowns, people becoming stranded, and we want to be able to assist the public."
