Amendment increasing Albany street resurfacing project

The Albany Board of Aldermen met earlier this week. Items discussed included some annual housekeeping like financial disclosure, banking authority, and the 2018 tax levy. The board also passed a motion to amend the street resurfacing budget to $125,000.

City administrator Derek Brown said the amendment should allow the city to resurface roads beyond the initial expectation.

"We head back four months ago in our fiscal year budget process, we had allocated $400,000 for our street resurfacing for this fiscal year that started July 1. As we got into that more deeply, there were more streets that we all wanted to get done and actually, the budget amendment increased that expense line from $400,000 to $525,000."

The board also passed a motion transferring $12,000 to the parks budget to build a picnic shelter at the baseball field.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen is scheduled for 5pm September 4.
