U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill brings focus to shortage of rural doctors

There is a shortage of doctors in rural communities across America, and U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill is making sure the voices of rural Missourians are heard in Washington, D.C.

During a Senate hearing on the challenging conditions for rural healthcare in the country, McCaskill shared viewpoints she had gathered while traveling across the state conducting town hall meetings with constituents.

McCaskill says one of the main problems of the shortage of rural doctors is that more urban hospitals bear the burden.

McCaskill also noted a major shortage of obstetricians and gynecologists in rural areas, questioning whether there is a way to incentivize such specialists to push development of medical care in rural areas.
