Clarinda City Council approves construction of new sewer plant

The Clarinda City Council at a recent meeting approved the purchase of six acres of land to construct a new sewer plant. City Manager Gary McClarnon says the unanimous vote approved a payment of $90,000 to Linda Rudolph.

McClarnon says that a combination of age and new restrictions on waste are causing many communities such as Clarinda to undertake sewer projects.

The new plant is still in the planning and engineering stages. McClarnon says if all goes as planned, the Clarinda city officials will begin taking bids in early 2019 and start the 2-year-long building project that spring.
