Missouri State Rep. Andrews calls for Gov. Greitens to resign

Missouri State Rep. Allen Andrews, a Republican from Grant City, has joined with House and Senate leadership in calling for Republican governor Eric Greitens to resign amidst numerous allegations of felonious behavior, according to a statement released today by the Representative.

Andrews says Greitens has lost the ability to govern the state effectively and does not fit the description for the state's highest office.

Andrews' statement comes the same day that Greitens' request to dismiss a felony criminal indictment of invasion of privacy was rejected by Circuit Judge Rex Burlison. The charge is based on allegations surrounding an extramarital affair before Greitens was governor and, while Greitens has admitted to the affair, he has denied criminal activity.

Greitens also faces a potential felony charge for using a charity donor list for political purposes, stemming from evidence that Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley announced earlier this week. The panel is still investigating this claim.

To this point, Greitens has insisted that he will not resign. House Speaker Todd Richardson has said a substantial amount of legislators have signed a petition to go into a special session if necessary to consider impeachment proceedings.
