Missouri Lt. Gov. Parson spoke at Northwest last night

Missouri Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson was on the Northwest Missouri State University campus yesterday and spoke to at the Charles Johnson Theater last night as part of the University's Distinguished Lecture series.

Parson, a Republican from Bolivar, began his public career as Sheriff of Polk County in 1993, served in the state House of Representatives from 2005 through 2011 and in the Missouri Senate from 2011 until his election as Lieutenant Governor in 2016.

Parson says he had one main theme he wanted to get across to students during his lecture, that they should "follow their dreams." He encouraged students to work hard and take advantage of the many opportunities Northwest provides for them as they earn their degrees.

Parson also spoke about some of his accomplishments as a legislator, explained the role of the Lieutenant Governor in Missouri, and took questions from the audience.
