Missouri House gives initial approval to major tax overhaul

This week, the Missouri House of Representatives voted on a major tax overhaul.

The tax bill, which was given initial approval this week, cuts the income tax rate in Missouri, but First District Representative Allen Andrews, a Republican from Grant City, says the bill does more than just cut taxes.

Andrews says he supports tax cuts, but is proceeding with caution considering what massive income tax cuts have done for a couple of neighboring states.

The proposal needs another vote in the House to move to the Senate, and is one of several competing proposals to change tax law currently floating around the Legislature.
