Now every Missourian can say Gone Fishin'

The Missouri Department of Conservation is offering a free rod and reel loaner program for anyone who wishes to fish but doesn't have the gear. The program is available at more than 100 locations around the state. Spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Conservation Joe Jerek says people can also borrow equipment from many libraries.

The Rod and Reel program is available in northwest Missouri in Buchanan County at the MDC Northwest Region Office, the Remington Nature Center and the St. Joseph Public Library. In Gentry County it's available at the Carnegie Library in Albany.

To help get more people hooked on fishing, the Missouri Department of Conservation also offers its Discover Nature fishing program from May to September at numerous locations around Missouri. This program offers free lessons for families and youth aged 7-15.
