Cooper Nuclear Station releases economic impact statement

The Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, Neb. recently released information on the economic impact the facility has in southeast Nebraska. Supervisor for Media Services with the Nebraska Public Power District Mark Becker says the plant generates approximately $112 million in statewide economic output annually.

Becker says the Cooper Nuclear Station has been able to keep electric rates low for its customers by operating at more than 93 percent of its capacity for the past five years.

NPPD serves an estimated 600,000 Nebraskans in 86 of the state's 93 counties with retail or wholesale electic power and energy-related products and services.
