In recognition of its efforts at preservation, the City of St. Joseph was recently named one of True West Magazine's Towns to Know in 2018.
The annual list of towns is published in the True Western Towns edition of the magazine, which highlights cities across America which have excelled in preservation efforts. Director of Communications for St. Joseph visitors Bureau Beth Conway says St. Joseph tries to preserve its history as much as possible.
Other towns listed include Amarillo, Tex.; Billings, Mont.; Colorado Springs, Col.; Idaho City, Idaho; Lincoln, Neb.; and Yreka, Cal.
