Chillicothe Police Department to offer "Coffee with the Cops"

The Chillicothe Police Department is working to become more involved with the community. This month, the department will begin hosting Coffee with the Cops, general question and answer sessions between community members and police officers to provide opportunities for communication. Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples says the event is modeled after similar events offered by police departments around the nation.

The event will allow citizens to mingle with police officers in Chillicothe so the community and police can better cooperate and communicate. Maples says it's part of a larger effort to help communities regain trust in police departments.

Maples says the Chillicothe Police Department will offer the event once every two months through this summer at various venues. The first Coffee with the Cops event in Chillicothe will take place Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Boji Stone Cafe from 8-10 a.m.
