Bethany woman suffers serious injuries in one-car crash

A Bethany woman is in serious condition following a crash yesterday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 26-year-old Kayla M. Ramey of Bethany was traveling eastbound on US Route 136, four miles west of Bethany, when she lost control of the vehicle on an ice-covered roadway.

The car slid off the north side of the road and struck a mailbox and an embankment. The car then became airborne, struck the ground, and rolled once, striking a fence and coming to rest on its top off the north side of the roadway.

Ramey was transported by NTA Ambulance to Harrison County Hospital, then to KU Medical Center in Kansas City with serious injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.

The car suffered total damage and was towed from the scene by Southside MFA. The Highway Patrol was assisted in cleanup by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department and the Bethany Police Department.
