Albany's Northwest Medical Center expansion begins with groundbreaking this week

The Northwest Medical Center in Albany's planned expansion and renovation is set to begin this week with a groundbreaking ceremony.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place Friday, Feb. 16, from 10:30-11 a.m. Northwest Medical Center President Jon Doolittle says the construction should last for over a year.

Doolittle says the construction and renovation project will not limit the services the hospital can offer at any given moment, but it will make commutes a little more complicated.

The closure of the existing Emergency Room entrance and construction are both set to begin around the first of March.
