Update on South Nodaway R-IV Board of Education meeting

The South Nodaway R-IV Board of Education met in regular session Wednesday night. The highlight of the meeting was a discussion of the district's 5-year and 10-year plans. Superintendent Johnnie Silkett says the plans are focused around project-based learning initiatives.

The board also evaluated its immediate plans for the district as the members approved letters of resignation from first grade teacher Wanda Bloom, speech teacher Vicki Spires, and K-12 principal Darbi Bauman. Silkett says the district is moving quickly to fill the positions.

Additionally, while updating the board on the progress of the Guilford Sports Complex, Silkett informed the board that light poles will be installed in April. He says the plan is still in place for the baseball team to play in the Guilford Sports Complex this season, which starts in mid-March.

Also, board president Macia Kemper and member Brian Florea are up for re-election in April. As they were the only two candidates to file, there will not be an election for South Nodaway.
