Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski foresees more financial cuts for state universities

Northwest Missouri State University faculty and staff gathered yesterday morning for their All-Employee meeting before the start of the spring trimester.

Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski told the group that state funding for higher education will continue to decline. Jasinski said state funding for higher education has switched since 1990 where 70 percent of Northwest's budget came from the state, to this past year's budget where just 30 percent of Northwest's budget came from Jefferson City. Jasinski stated he anticipates even more cuts this year.

Jasinski added that higher education institutions in other states are also seeing drastic cuts to their funding.
