Mound City R-II Board of Education provides update on consortium

The Mound City R-II Board of Education met in regular session last Wednesday. The highlight of the agenda was a memorandum of understanding for the Missouri Assessment Partnership. Mound City Superintendent Ken Eaton says the consortium was put together to make content-area teaching better for the teachers and students alike.

Eaton says the consortium has been in the works for a few years; this is not a response to the issues with MAP testing in the 2016-2017 school year which ended with English II and Algebra I scores being nullified. In addition, the board offered contracts to the existing ACES staff members. Mound City will take over as the ACES fiscal agent in the 2018-2019 school year; the move is to add the ACES staff to Mound City's payroll.

The board also moved to add a $10,000 life insurance policy for all half-time and full-time employees who qualify for health insurance and extended Eaton's contract as superintendent through the 2020-2021 school year.
