Maryville man arraigned for first degree involuntary manslaughter

A 21-year-old Maryville man charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 19-year-old Liberty, Mo. woman early Sunday had his initial arraignment Tuesday morning. Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rice says Alex Catterson appeared before Associate Circuit Court Judge Doug Thomson.

Judge Thomson denied a request by Catterson to lower his $50,000 bond. Catterson remains in the custody of the Nodaway County Sheriff's Department. Catterson was charged after the vehicle he was driving crashed into the front of the Palms Bar in Maryville around 12:40 Sunday morning, killing 19-year-old Morgan McCoy.
